Our Year 6 Residential at Little Canada on the Isle of Wight.
This year our Advent Liturgy is on the theme of Waiting. Together we looked at what it means to wait and to be patient. Some of us wrote reflections and others created music and dance on the theme. We chose Gospel readings from Isaiah and Luke to show how this time of Advent is a special time for Christians all over the world.
In Science in Year 6 we are looking at light . In order to show that light travels in straight lines we created our own investigations choosing the resources that we felt would be most appropriate. We shared our findings with the rest of the class. Here are some of us setting up our investigation.
Our Fab Finish!
We finished off our Mayan topic with a Mayan food tasting, looking at all of the kinds of things that the ancient Maya grew, harvested and ate. Our favourite food was , of course, chocolate! Our parents came to join in the tasting, but first we gave them a presentation about Mayan food and explained to them exactly what the Maya ate and what happened when crops failed.
We also took our parents around our Mayan museum where we displayed our work on the Mayan gods - this included power-points, creative writing, art work and sculpture.
