St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School Hope in God

Curriculum overview

We are very proud of our curriculum and work hard to ensure the children learn new skills with real life opportunities. Staff plan 'stunning starts' to each topic and involve the children in all aspects of planning their learning. Each topic ends with a 'Fabulous Finish' to celebrate learning. Parents are invited into class at the end of each term to evaluate their children's learning. We pride ourselves on an exciting and engaging curriculum.

The Foundation Stage Curriculum is provided for children in Reception (their first year in school). The  programme of study includes Religious Education, Language, Communication and Literacy, Numeracy, Physical
Education, Creativity, Knowledge of the Wider World and Personal and Social Development.

All National Curriculum subjects are taught to children in Key Stages 1 and 2. Core subjects include: Religious Education,  English, Mathematics, Science, Information Communication Technology and foundation subjects - Music, History, Geography, Design Technology, Art and  Physical Education. French speaking and listening is taught in Key Stage 2.

Teachers and teaching assistants plan to meet the needs of all the learners in the class. Children work in a range of different groups using Working With Others strategies and use a range of learning styles to complete their work to a high standard. Classrooms reflect the quality of learning and supports the children to become confident and independent learners.
