I have enjoyed a teaching career that began in 1977 and has spanned thirty nine
years in Catholic Education. I have taught in schools in Bognor Regis, Chichester,
and Haywards Heath, and have been the head teacher of St Robert Southwell
Catholic Primary School in Horsham for the last fifteen years. During this time I also
worked as an Executive head teacher of two other Catholic primary schools and as a
Section 48 Religious Education inspector.
I chose teaching because I believe that it is a vocation and one of the most
important professions. Teaching is about making the world a better place by helping
pupils to achieve their potential and, in the case of Catholic Education, helping them
to know the person of Jesus Christ.
I have also been blessed with four beautiful children and a gorgeous granddaughter.
After retiring from headship in the summer of 2016 I was delighted to be asked to
apply for a governor’s role at St Wilfrid’s and I am now thoroughly enjoying
supporting such a delightful school and a very dedicated staff.
