I am a Local Authority (LA) governor and have been since September 2015. Prior to that, I had been involved with St Wilfrid’s as part of my job at Arun District Council in looking at ways in which the children from new developments in Angmering could be provided for in terms of primary education and how these new developments will fund this provision. I don’t just have an LA interest in the school, as I live in Angmering (and have done for nearly 10 years) with our son (Edison) who is in Whitby.
As a parent, I love the school for all the enjoyment my son gets from it. As a governor, I have huge admiration for all of the staff at the school and the amount of time they dedicate to the children. I think the expansion of the school will be a massive boost and becoming a full one form of entry this will benefit the children’s education as well as help financially. I am vice-chairman of the Finance committee where we consider and agree the overall budget of the school and how it is going to spend money (based on what the aspirations of the school are) as well as carrying out the annual appraisal of the Headteacher. My wife (Claire) is also a teacher at The Angmering School.
My spare time is spent watching our son’s karate lessons and riding my bike(s) as fast as I can.
