Keeping safe online. Tuesday 5th February was internet safety day, we took part in role play had a class assembly and watched Newsrounds Stay Safe Online. We learnt about age restrictions and that they are on websites for a reason, we also looked at what it meant to give consent for an picture to be used, we made posters and had a class debate. Luckily these children have got permission from their parents to share their thoughts.
R.E - Community, during this topic we are thinking about living together in peace as part of our parish community.
The focus for the lesson was Joining together as a loving community. Some of the children created a dance based on 'being real about love'. This dance makes links to the scripture based o Romans 12:8-11 the dance represents the line 'Pray regularly'
Friday 18th January. Ripon class celebrated Winnie the Pooh day. We found out that AA Milne rented Decoy Cottage in Angmering in the 1920's. We read some of his stories and wrote our own independent writing inspired by our own soft toys.
Rommel the Praying Mantis has come to live in Ripon class during this topic. We are having to research and identify what we need to do to allow him to thrive in our class. Edward has a great knowledge of the species, as you can see from this video clip.
Stunning start - Rainforests - Stunning Start 7th January 2019 Rainforests What an exciting day we had on our first day back. Mrs F-L received a special delivery from Larry in Costa Rica. Mrs F-L had told him in the summer that our class would be learning about Rainforests. He thought it would be a good idea if we were able to identify and care for a Praying Mantis called Rommel. We were given time to research where he comes from and what he needs to survive.
Fab finish, working with others morning. Parents and children alike had great fun during our fab finish. Each group were given a selection of items and had to work collaboratively to create a Roman shield.
History man visit. Ripon class had a wonderful morning with Paul, learning more details about the Romans as well has improving our artistic skills of drawing and shading.
During our Respond activity for our Domestic church people unit. We decided to take our learning outside, we made crosses from twigs and placed them on a prayer focus along with figures of Joseph, Mary and Jesus.
A phenomenon is sweeping the nation, the #Babyshark challenge. Not to be outdone, Ripon class, worked together in random pairs to make shark hats and performed our own version (even Mrs Reynolds got involved)
