To Infinity and Beyond - Stunning Start - January 2018
For our Stunning Start we made a papier-mâché solar system. We used round balloons and tried to get some scale between the planets. We covered the balloons and newspaper with a mixture of glue and water. Whilst they were drying, we researched facts about our planets, including the colours, to ensure we could paint them accurately. Come into our classroom to see the finished result!
Science Week - February 2018
During Science Week, Hexham class became Stargazing Live TV presenters - just like Brian Cox! They researched, created and presented scale models of the Solar System using fruit and researched Lunar Phases. At the end of the week they presented their findings to parents during the Open Afternoon.
World Book Day 2018
Our theme for Book Day this year was Alice in Wonderland. Hexham Class wore some amazing costumes, including Mrs Dunning and Mrs Lambert who came as Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum! We started our day with a fantastic West End dance workshop in which we recreated famous scenes from the book. Once we were back in class, we looked at various parts of the story and completed activities inspired by these parts of the story. We discussed (under our desks) whether we would drink an unidentified drink (the majority of us would not) and created double acts inspired by Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum. In the afternoon, we had our own Mad Hatter's Tea party with hot chocolate and marshmallows. We even managed to find time to play in the snow!
